Background of Director and Children of Hope
Christine Atcheson was born in the UK and moved to Bermuda 30 years ago. In 1999, Christine visited Uganda, where she heard of the war in the North, where children are drafted into the ranks of the 'Lords Resistance Army' (LRA). On this journey her heart turned towards the orphans of the civil war, and of AIDS, and she was led to establish Children of Hope. Children of Hope is a non-profit organization, Bermuda registered charity # 709.

In the year 2000, Christine was a speaker at a Widow's conference in Kenya, where she met a woman named Dorcas who looked after AIDS orphans. It was clear that they needed help with housing for these children as they had land but no buildings. Through her personal contacts, Christine raised enough finances to build a home in Kenya for the children, which is still running today. |
As funds continue to be raised in Bermuda,
Christine and others travel between Bermuda and Uganda to oversee the development and implementation of Children of Hope's vision.
Ministry's Vision
The future goal of Children of Hope is to open homes in
different areas of Africa where the needs are greatest. With
the help of God and those who feel led to give we believe
we can restore hope to the hopeless in Africa.
It is our goal to work with the children who come into the
house not only to provide accommodation, food, and to educate
them to the highest possible level, but also, through Christian
counselling and prayer, that they would be healed emotionally
and spiritually from the trauma of their pasts.
It is our desire to see our children become the men and women
they were created to be and we believe they will become the
politicians, lawyers, teachers and pastors of the future and
that through them their nation can be changed.
